This project was a complete gut renovation. We reconfigured the layout to create a more open flow and to embrace the views of Boston's waterfront, letting the skyline and natural light take center stage.
A significant architectural change was to the columns. In the original unit, the columns were square and outdated. They couldn't be removed because they were structural, but we knew they had to be changed. Inspiration came from capturing the elements of the iconic Boston Harbor Hotel's dome roof viewed from the window. The columns were transformed into circular columns, and their curved shape is easier on the eye, plays well in the space and brings the outside in.
Quality and craftsmanship can be seen throughout the unit. The custom cabinetry and the island in the kitchen, the fireplace mantle, and the vanities in the bathrooms, all reflect thoughtfully designed and fabricated millwork. A favorite area is the custom coffee bar with walnut cabinetry, polished nickel accents and the recessed coffee station. The home office with bold color choices is a perfect blend of creativity, function and comfort. The stone and tile installed throughout the space are examples of luxurious selections that make this space an elegant haven in the city.
