This waterfront shingle-style home in Hingham was revitalized with an extensive and large garage addition, a new covered porch, and a full exterior and interior renovation involving a complex structural roof. The goal was to create an open living space on the second floor and the challenge was to combine the addition and the existing home with the result of a seamless appearance. Because the existing house was an older home with out-of-level walls and floors, this required a structural ridge and perfectly tapered valleys to join the eccentricities of the older structures with the new construction. The full exterior reshingling and incorporation of contextually sensitive detailing achieves this unified look.
